YU YUNICORN
The YU Televentures came up with the strategy to offer great specifications at an affordable price, with the initial releases under INR 10K range. Yu almost looked like flooding the under 10 K market, only till it released a flagship level device in the form of YU Yunicorn which was great, but only on papers. Soon after, the Micromax sub-brand looks to go back to the basics. It has released a decent-looking mid-range phone with a metal unibody design, named the YU Yunicorn.
With basics intact, there are few interesting talking points about the latest YU release. It packs a 4000 mAh enormous battery which makes YU Yunicorn the first phone from YU to do so. YU has decided to stick with key features rather then other fancy stuff, which can be understood after the unsatisfactory results from YU Yutopia, which was focused on providing flagship features. It seems like an obvious step to focus more on basics and YU has exactly done that.
The YU Yunicorn was released in the 15K price range which made it compete directly with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 which is one of the many phones in this segment. However, talking about 2017, the Yunicorn is available below 10K, which reduces its market reputation a bit but the value-for-money is increased.
YU has definitely created problems for the prevailing Chinese brands in the market in the past, will it be able to repeat the same with the Yu Yunicorn or face the same fate as that of the flagship-level Yutopia? The specs will tell us –
We will provide you with a complete guide to help you know more about the YU Yunicorn Note covering most of its detailed specifications –

The Ultimate review –
The YU Yunicorn is the best-designed phone by YU till date. But the sad part is that it excels only in design considerations and misses out on some important factors.
Talking about strengths, the YU has got the design part spot on, along with a convincing display. The quality of its built looks premium and the aesthetics are just right. The metal unibody design is an advantageous factor that this device flaunts. Back in June 2016 and the Yunicorn would have been the show stealer with its design, but at present it is not the only device in the price segment having this advantage. The 4000 mAh battery is another one of this phone’s strengths which ensures that you don't have to charge it every time to enjoy its offerings. However, having the huge battery doesn’t mean that it surpasses the Redmi Note 3. But one thing that the YU brand name surely offers best in its price range is the UI.
It would not be wrong to say that the limitations of Yu Yunicorn matter more than its strengths, which has let down the device considerably. The device features an underwhelming camera, which is just half as good comparatively. We all know that missing out on a good camera can be a bit of a downer when everyone is looking for that perfect picture. To add more to its weaknesses, there are always small things like weight, lack of FM radio and Wi-Fi ac.
Verdict
Unlike many, we won’t criticize the Yunicorn much, thanks to its dropped price. Considering the Yunicorn to be priced under the 10K segment, it is much similar to the Redmi Note 4, which is arguably the ‘under-10K’ leader. Except for the Camera, we don't find any other factors which are below par when compared to the Redmi Note 4.
