Micromax – owned YU seems to be following the strategy of covering the below INR 10K market completely. With the release of 3 devices in less than a year, YU has come up with yet another addition to its below 10K list of smartphones – The YU Yunique. With four releases of its similarly priced range devices in less than a year, YU seems to mop up as much as possible under the 10K market.
However, YU seems to take a backstep in marketing which is highlighted by the decreasing prices of its latest releases. The price lowering strategy is continued with the YU Yunique. The device is an ideal entry-level device, so we can expect very basic features. The device comes at just above INR 5000, which makes it a perfect phone for people moving on from their old feature phones. However, the rumors don’t agree. There have been talks of the YU Yunique providing similar specifications to the previous YU releases, at even lower price. Certainly, if YU can pull this off, it will force Xiaomi and other Chinese brands to work for their money and most importantly attract market attention.
One major wondering factor is its name. There has to be something unique, as per the name goes. The budget device has already amazed us with its price, now let us see how it justifies the name –
We will provide you with a complete guide to help you know more about the YU Yunique covering most of its detailed specifications –

‘The Budget Buyer’
The YU Yunique is an ideal entry-level device with very basic features, but are they really very basic?
Going through the specs and keeping the image of the price tag in mind, the YU Yunique seems an attractive deal. Surely, it is defined by its price.
In just a little above 5000 bucks, it packs a good-looking lightweight handset, with an HD LCD display. It provides dual-SIM LTE connectivity, a snappy processor, and a quality camera as well. It retains most of the specs from its predecessor but is just a bit on the lower side, but the price makes up for it.
What’s with the name?
The name certainly leaves many wondering its reason. We are here to clear that. There may not be a whole lot unique like the name in the device, but the YU has certainly played a unique game with the software. The fourth release, unlike the previous three, comes with a more pure stock android experience, with the CyanogenMod skin optional. Users will have the option to install the skin which allows the phone to lean towards user-suitability.
The Yunique may be the only device offering so much at this price, but the market has many variable options. With the 5K price tag, the Yunique wins the price battle with the Xiaomi Redmi 2 by a good margin. Also, on a positive note, it beats the Redmi 2 with its premium design and stock android’s general appeal. On the contrary, the Redmi 2 passes the device on battery power and camera quality which are more significant factors for most people. However, the YU Yunique is a great value for money deal and we do not find many reasons to advise you to avoid it.
