It was the beginning of 2015 when the market witnessed a 4G device that had great specifications at an affordable and reasonable price. It was introduced by the sub-brand of Micromax – The YU which owned the Yureka. The main focus was on value-for-money and the customizations offered by the Tweakable Cyanogen Mod OS which was preloaded in the Yu devices. It would be rightful to say that the YU Yureka enjoyed a little success and was the smartest 4G device being marketed for the consumers at the time of its release. Probably, YU didn’t find things that way which can be said by the release of its Third Album, which in fact was a slightly improvised version of its debut phone (Yureka) – YU Yureka Plus.
Nowadays, the Plus version is always thought to be a larger and more powerful device than the predecessor, but the Yureka Plus was not that. With the price difference of a mere 1000 Rupees. The Yureka Plus was a silent release by Micromax, which had slight upgrades to suffice for the small price difference which can be justified.
The YU sub-brand by Micromax was very clearly intended to provide a good value for people’s money and become the smarter option compared to the competition, and it has very well managed to do so. You may be wondering as to what are the 1000 bucks for, Let us find out –
We will provide you a complete guide to help you in getting hand in hand with YU Yureka Plus covering most of the detailed specifications –

PROS –
Corning Gorilla glass 3 screen protection
Great value for money deal
Octa-core processor accompanied by 2 GB RAM provides boosting performance
Good camera
Removable battery
Upgraded PPI
Updated Cyanogen 12 UI which is tweakable
New camera sensor
CONS –
IR port unavailable
Average Low-light camera performance
Not much upgrade from the predecessor
‘INR 1000 more for improved display and camera’
That in one line sums up what the successor is all about. Let us look at the changes in detail –
The Camera – The camera has witnessed a small but mattering upgrade. While the predecessor used the older Sony IMX135 camera sensor, the Plus has the newer one that is IMX214 camera sensor. Even though the resolution remains unaltered, the newer sensor promises improved photography as well as videography, thanks to its small tweaks. Also, the support for HDR Stills and videos has improved. However, the low-light issues have not been looked upon, which still remains the camera’s drawback. But if you are satisfied with Yureka’s camera, the Plus promises to please you!
The Display – The only difference you may notice at first glance is the visibly sharper and full-HD display. The Yureka 720p screen was just impressive, but the market is growing with new and improved phones willing to provide the best value-for-money. The full-HD change seems mandatory so as to keep the Yureka lineup prevailing in the market. The spec-war is heating up and a full-HD display under Rupees 10K doesn't seem impossible now (in 2015). However, it is a great upgrade over its predecessor with bright and vivid colors which add a lot more value to the Yureka Plus deal.
A minor but mentionable upgrade is the tweakable Cyanogen Mod 12S compared to the CM 11 in the predecessor. OnePlus One was the first device to feature the Cyanogen Mod UI, but with the Yureka Plus, YU is carrying it forward.
The YU Yureka Plus looks good for its price, but only if you look back 2 years and judge it. We in 2017, are dealing with devices like Xiaomi Note 4 under 10K. The modern day devices offer better value-for-money along with fancy features which you can flaunt to your friends. But that is not the end for Yureka Plus. The Yureka Plus offers much of the same features as you would find in a Xiaomi Note 4, except a fancy fingerprint sensor making a major difference. The Yureka Plus is a very good device, but will always remain a bit inferior to the modern day devices.
